Rainy Afternoon

Yesterday afternoon we had a much needed cloud break. As soon as Ev figured out it was raining, she dashed upstairs and put on a too small bathing suit and some too big rain boots, grabbed a bucket or two and ran out to play. She marched up and down the street, singling and slinging rain water all about her, she jumped in the rivers and she sploshed as only a 6 year old can splosh.
The rest of us sat on the porch swing and enjoyed the breeze and the sounds of the rain and Ev playing. Papa snuck some pictures and Liam learned about porch swings.
I wish I could stop Ev right where she is. I just want to grab her and hug her to me and demand that she never change or grow from this girl she is right now. She stood there in the rain, singing her head off, face up to the sky arms outstretched and I realized how very fleeting my time with her will actually be.
Can anyone tell me how to stop her from growing up? Anyone?
