The Bean is home and I have resumed the role of "Question Answerer Extraordinaire".
The reunion yesterday had a few bumps, she was coming off of unlimited fruit snacks and non-compliance and I was jumping back into things after a weekend of quiet. We are all a-okay today though and most of the morning was spent snuggling together in my bed.
Um, yeah. I was upset when she left and that lasted for about 30 minutes until I realized that Leslie and I were engaged in a real, honest to God conversation and it wasn't being interrupted and it wasn't happening after 9 pm. That was nice. I knew that she was safe and happy and that my Mom and Dad would take good care of her, so after the initial shock of "oh my goodness my baby is not in the house", I was ok. I enjoyed it. I needed it. Leslie and I needed it. This was the first extended type of break that we have had since she was plopped into my arms on May 8, 2005.
Technicality Update: For the sake of posterity, Evelyn wasn't really plopped into my arms that day. I could not and would not wait for the long translation process of our guide telling the Nanny that we were the parents, I just sort of took her. That's right I grabbed her. I grabbed her and scuttled off to the farthest corner of the room until we could make a break for our hotel room. THAT'S how it really went down.
