Referral Day- 4 years later

Four years ago today my phone rang, and I answered the most important phone call of my life. I waited 8 months for that call. I waited an eternity for that call.
A nice lady by the name of Jenny from CCAI called and when I frantically and breathlessly said hello, she said "You have a daughter" Those were the four sweetest words in the history of mankind.
I had a daughter. Her name was Yi Fu Mei. She was eight and a half months old. She was healthy. She was in the Jiangxi province. She was a good sleeper and liked music. Fu Mei meant Lucky Plum.
I called Leslie as soon as I got off of the phone. Of course he did not answer his cell- so I looked at her picture without him. I simply could not wait. I scrolled down the computer screen and I saw the single most beautiful face that I have ever seen. My daughter. I laughed and I cried. And I immediately bonded with her picture. My daughter. Mine. My own little girl.
Les came home a few minutes later and he too got a look at her. His reaction was typically Leslie. He just sat and looked and looked at her-never saying a word. For a long time. Then he said "My God. When can we get her?" Our daughter.
We would have to wait almost another two full months until we held her in our arms. But on this day four years ago? We were as happy as clams. To say the least.

Happy Referral Day!

Amazing how the wait has changed in those 4 years, isn't it? ;)
